24/365 - Starbucks @ Kroger
Monday, I worked from home to look after my mother. At one point in the afternoon, I cruised on over to Kroger to fill a prescription for her. I’d always seen the little Starbucks embedded in the store, but never craved it… until today. I decided well why not grab an Americano while I wait. Americano with cinnamon & a little half-&-half. WONDERFUL! They even had a couch...

23/365: The ER Stretcher, Mama!
Sunday evening after a delicious fajita lunch & nap, we packed up for church to welcome Croatian missionaries & sweet friends Mladen & Dragica Jovanovic. As my dad & I carried things out to the car and Heidi dressed Sammy, mama went out to the car to wait. Next thing we heard was a crash in the garage & mama letting out a blood curdling scream. My mom had slipped on the...

22/365 - UH Cougar Adam Smith's Priceless...
Saturday night, the UH Cougars men’s basketball team played UTEP Miners at our home in Hofheinz Pavilion. It was an exciting game with a relatively great turnout! Great friends to cheer & yell with, even an Aggie helped ;) Thanks Sarah! However, we fell to UTEP 57-52 almost collapsing the mines on UTEP (too soon?). Next time, Cougars! GO COOGS!!!

20/365 - Eastern European Missions, Hungary &...
Thursday night at Ecclesia Houston, worship leaders Matt & Cameron Hammon debriefed us on their recent trip to two of Europe’s poorest countries, Hungary and Moldova. I was encouraged by the several tables full of people who were interested in God’s work in Eastern Europe. Matt & Cameron shared pictures & stories from their mission work (their blog) and ways that God is...

Dear Tumblr!
oatmeal: If you’re going to go down, you might as well blame it on an imaginary animal like Twitter did with their infamous Fail Whale. I’ve taken the liberty of creating this animal for you: Please use it.  Please oh please.  -The Oatmeal

19/365 - The Beautiful & Crisp Downtown Houston
Today, most of the clouds cleared out & the sun shown vibrantly. Stellar weather. For lunch, I took a stroll down the block & ate outside in the sun. Mmmm, warming the bones. I love my view from our 10th floor office perch. If I sit up in my chair, this is what I can see. Blessed. Thank you, God! Check out my little quick panorama too, here.

16/365 - All The President's Men
Today, I rested & rested. Taking it easy, eating slowly, & watching movies. I watched the first Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl! I can’t believe it came out in 2003. That seems so long ago. By the way, the DVD digital label is misspelled, “…_CARRIBEAN”. Hahaha. We ended the day watching “All The President’s Men” (1976)...

15/365 - Living on Fruity Kefir
The road to recovery from wisdom teeth extraction is thankfully a speedy highway. I still had pain throughout the day, but not as bad as I thought I would have AND of course pain medication helped out!!! My limited diet: chicken broth, apple sauce with cinnamon, vanilla bean ice cream, and Lifeway’s kefir in strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry. Hate yogurt? Think it tastes nasty? I did...

14/365 - Wisdom Teeth? No more! Hello, Ice Cream!
Today, all four of my 3rd molars a.k.a wisdom teeth were extracted (the teeth on the outskirts). The above photo is a nifty panoramic x-ray of my teeth taken Wednesday before today’s extraction. Cool, huh?! Well, our appointment was at 11am with prep at 10:45am. They had me sign a waiver for the anesthetic (blah blah death blah blah); I took off of my jewelry, piercings, & gold money...

13/365 - Minuti Coffee, Heart of Downtown
Normally just opening on weekends, my friend Sarah was asked to pick up a closing shift tonight @ Minuti Coffee (Yelp), a wonderful little Italian cafe in the heart of downtown Houston on Texas in between Travis & Main St. (close to the METRO rail). Minuti offers comfortable seating inside with connected entrance to the Post Rice Lofts as well as a full patio outside. Everything is so...

12/365: Agora, Pheonix Rising from Ashes
Wednesday afternoon, I received an excited phone call from my dad that Agora cafe (website, Yelp) had just officially reopened! I quickly messaged all my friends telling them the good news!!! Last Halloween (2010), a fire at the antique store next door to Agora consumed both buildings and Agora suffered massive fire damages causing it to close. All of us in the coffee & wine loving...

11/365 - Small Group Sharing The Love
Tuesday nights are the highlight of my week. On Tuesdays @ 7pm, I have the pleasure of growing with some of kindest & sincerest people. Broken & sinful, yes. However, redeemed & most joyful in Christ, indeed! May God bless our group & place His hand over each of our lives this year. We hang out, invest our lives with each other, cook & share recipes & eat wonderful food,...

10/365 - At the Dentist, Keep My Wisdom?
For the past several days, my bottom-left wisdom tooth or at least the gum around it has been hurting like crazy. Sometimes so much so that I’ve started to feel a little pain in my left ear. I have all of my wisdom teeth. Today, first day of the work week, I went to my dentist to have Dr. Hand have a look at it. Sure enough, he confirmed my suspicions & told me that my bottom-left...

9/365 - Happy Birthday, Heidi! Opa & Coffee!
A gigantic Happy Birthday to my big sister Heidi!!! I love you. After church this morning, we all ate at the always delicious Yia Yia Mary’s (Yelp) off of San Felipe. We ordered a side of hummus & pita and bread & oil. I savored the traditional beef & lamb gyro. I’m fairly certain that their meat portions are larger than that of Niko Nikos (still love them both; Mmmm...

8/365 - Christmas Caroling, Party On
My Austin family (Heidi, Will, & Sammy) is in town for part of the weekend for Heidi’s birthday (Jan. 9th, tomorrow)! As such, today was full of celebrations, eating, sipping coffee & tea, conversations out on the sunny back porch, car pictures, a short bike ride, & birthday presents. At night, we had a crazy Christmas party (yes, a tad late) with family friends: the Berridge,...

7/365 - Dear Diary... Taboo?
My Friday started out with one of Chick-fil-A’s new savory spicy chicken biscuits, for FREE (thanks to the little coupon online). Scrumptious! Saved one side of the biscuit for some Strawberry jam. Mmmm. Tonight, we played Taboo, one of my favorite games. Highly entertaining! “It’s a… red… hexagon.” “A Stop Sign?!” “Yes!”…...

6/365 - KKang Turns 21, The Wild West
My good friend Kristen turned 21 today! Happy Birthday!!! We all celebrated with a small glass of the bubbly over a couple of quick games of Monopoly Deal (Monops). We finished off the night two-stepping & dancing away at Wild West. I think I’m slightly improving (2nd time) & of course, act’n-a-fool taking advantage of my 6’2” lankiness whenever I can. Crazy...

2/365 - African Forest
Today (day 2), I pinned on my wilderness explorer badge & wielded my camera for a safari ride through the new African Forest exhibit at our wonderful Houston Zoo. Other explorers & actual founders of this little expedition were Chris & his brother Jacob. The exhibit has plenty of room to grow with spots open for more animals to be added. Hungry monkeys (scraping out some rice cereal...

1/365 - Project 365 in 2011
First Bike Ride around Memorial Park in Houston! I love bike riding, running, soccer, swimming… sports & recreation! The running paths had signs saying no bicycles, so I blazed my own way today on the road & through the grass. I eventually found the “Bike Path” signs! The bike trails at Memorial Park were closed because of the rain Houston has had this past week....
