Crikvenica, Northern Adriatic Sea
Before leaving Croatia, we longed to visit the magnificent northern Adriatic seacoast (Primorje-Gorski Kotar county) where my family always pitches tent & parks the camper for the summer. TRAVEL WARNING: We crammed an EPIC journey into 1 day. I’ll split it into 3 posts.
Tuesday, June 22, 2010, our target was set first on the lovely Crikvenica, the largest town in the Vinodol coastal area.
The karta (map) of Croatia below shows Crikvenica & Dubrovnik (pt. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5), opposite ends of the beautiful coast.

I see the ADRIATIC SEA!!! It’s always an exciting sight, after driving through miles and miles of mountains & tunnels.
Welcome to Crikvenica!
The main drag alongside the marina & several beaches is populated with several slastičarnas, restaurants, clothes stores, jewelry stores, & hotels. It’s a perfect space to simply relax, soak in the gorgeous coastal climate, people-watch, & catch up with friends and family. We plopped down at Slastičarna Zagreb (yeah, we just couldn’t get away from Zagreb :P) for kava s mlijekom i sladoled. They had Baci ice cream!!!
Two gentlemen catching up on life. =)
My lovely family!
This lady ordered a super fancy sladoled.
Couples enjoying the coast… and Mr. i-can-haz-teh-Interwebs surfing on the free municipal WiFi.
Saltwater lanes & water polo goals. Wouldn’t it be a blast to practice & play there?
My mom’s new Porsche.
A parking attendant stand was rocking a poster from the 1998 Fifa World Cup - Hrvatska 3rd Place!
