Autocamp Oštro on the Adriatic
After Crikvenica, we visited our old stomping campground, Autocamp Oštro, a few miles up the Adriatic coast.
Every summer that I’ve visited Croatia, we have stayed at Oštro for at least 2 weeks; however, this time even though we stayed for less than 4 hours, it was beautiful. The sea looked amazing and was super chilly compared to the southern Croatian waters around Dubrovnik (the optimal time is July or August).
This summer our family rented out our usual spot only a couple of leaps from the lovely Adriatic. The camper on the left is ours.
We setup our table in between these two trees.
Our view
Orange juice from our visit with our coastal neighbors/family, Pero i Ružica.
There have been several improvements to the campground including camper/tent rezoning, remodeling of bathrooms, & landscape beautifications (see the little trees & wall below).
Delicious lunch! It probably took me 40 minutes to finish that sandwich :P
Yes, the water is that clear!!!
A visit to Oštro warranted sladoled (ice cream) & kava from Slastičarnica Oštro. When we stayed on the coast, my sister Heidi & I would waltz over everyday for an amazing ice cream fix.
Anyone want to buy & restore Hotel Pension Praha with me? It would be a great business venture! Hotel, restaurant, and live music & dance.
Otok Krk (Island of Krk) the largest Croatian island can be seen in the distance. If winds become too turbulent, the bridge connecting the mainland and the island closes. Exciting adventures ensue!
I spotted a truck! It is rare to see pickup trucks in Croatia; although, this summer, I saw at least four.
The beach-side cafe, not far from our campsite, was showing the World Cup match of course. This cafe contributed to my love of several 90s songs. The last summer Heidi accompanied us to Croatia, the bartender on duty would blast the same 90s music day after day all day.
Here is a last look at the Adriatic sea before we headed inland for supper…
