Plitvička Jezera, Part 1
In the heart of Croatia, resides one of the most beautiful places on the planet, Plitvička jezera (Plitvice Lakes). The UNESCO World Heritage stamped and protected Croatian national park is 115 sq. miles with 16 lakes & cascading waterfalls among dense forest. Visitors can navigate the park following the paths along the shores or by utilizing footbridges. The largest lake can be toured by electric boat as to not disturb the elegant ecological environment of crystal clear, blue/green water & wildlife. More can be found out online here.
My parents went to Plitvička jezera on their 20th anniversary & brought back beautiful seemingly unreal pictures of clear, blue/green water & waterfalls. Heidi i Will went. Now it was my time to go and experience God’s wonderful creation. NONE of the photos have been color enhanced; the water is that clear & that color. CRAZY, you will see!
Sunday (6/6/2010). On our way, Ujo Dado, my tata, i ja stopped to take pictures of the waterfalls at Rastoke.
We parked in the lovely forest which was itself worth the drive.
Sumška jagoda (little forest strawberries)… so tasty!
We took the 3-4 hour trail F which took us to the rightmost (Northern) lakes and back using an electric boat & “train.” If you look on the map, we didn’t even see half of the lakes and waterfalls! I smell another trip sometime. :D
