25/365 - Maple Leaf Happy Hour

Tuesday night before small group, I joined a small crowd of coworkers a couple of blocks from PROS at the Maple Leaf Pub for an unofficial happy hour celebrating several promotions & team restructuring. Congrats to Jeff, Anita, Jian, & Scott!!! You all deserve it & PROS is greater because of you.

19/365 - The Beautiful & Crisp Downtown Houston

Today, most of the clouds cleared out & the sun shown vibrantly. Stellar weather. For lunch, I took a stroll down the block & ate outside in the sun. Mmmm, warming the bones. I love my view from our 10th floor office perch. If I sit up in my chair, this is what I can see. Blessed. Thank you, God!

PROS Pricing, 3 Months All In

Today marks 3 months since June 28, 2010 when I finally started full-time as a Junior Software Engineer at PROS Revenue Management after graduating from UH with a B.S. Computer Science, Business Option degree (resume).

I’ve actually been working with PROS for a while. In summer 2008 (check my tweet) & 2009, I was a software development intern working with a stellar group of developers, scientists, and project managers on the Pricing Science team. I employed agile and test-driven development methodology to code enhancements in the user interface for PROS’ Pricing Solution Suite using Flex, JavaScript, and Java. The internships were extremely enjoyable (great teammates & perks galore) & I learned an amazing amount!

Now as a real full-time employee, I’m a hybrid user interface / back-end (Flex & Java) developer on the Price Optimization team. My cubicle is on the north-east side of the building with a stellar view of downtown Houston. Having interned with PROS the past two summers has allowed me to quickly integrate with the team & our project tasks. It also helps that several of my teammates are from my Pricing Science team days. My team in two words, Helpful & Smart! Thanks for assisting me with my 1000s of questions. Every day I learn something new that I can apply in the next!

I look forward to helping simplify our complex code & speeding up our development process wherever possible.

I thank the Lord for providing me with this wonderful job and an opportunity to create & learn!
