Together For A Year & 2 Weeks

I’m so proud & happy to say that we have been together for 1 year & a little over 2 weeks now & my love has never been stronger. What comes out during our time together has been described by some to be breathtakingly beautiful & sometimes a bit odd, but that’s OK I don’t mind. We’ve been together & complement one another at parties, soccer games, weddings, and parks. Capturing the many good times :-D & those couple of rough patches forever in our memories. Ah, those simple fun experiences…

Sadly, I’m only talking about my Canon Rebel EOS XTi that I purchased last year on May 2, 2009. This past year I have learned so much more about the art of photography. Focus points, f-stop, shutter speed, white balance, zoom, ISO range, and metering. One of the first things that I fell in love with was the depth of field & perspective that this little baby provides. I can take a picture with one person in focus and actually have that person be the only thing be in focus versus wide everything in focus shots that most point & shoots deliver. I have posted over 13,000 photos online on my Flickr since June 2005.

I love my family & friends, and I love photography. Thank you God for giving me such a passion for it; I pray that my passion for you is even stronger!

Depth of People & Flowers

After months of reading reviews & price-checking, I finally purchased a new lens for my Canon Rebel XTi DSLR, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS telephoto zoom lens (Amazon.com). Accompanied by my kits lens, I can now go full zoom range 18-55mm & 55-250mm.

I have enjoyed my Rebel immensely since I bought it last year, but felt limited with my zooming power especially when Samuel would run so far away so quickly! Megan let me borrow her Sigma 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens for InterVarsity’s One Night in Heaven, over Spring Break, & during the InterVarsity Car Wash last weekend. I was able to get in some good practice & take some sweet candid shots.

I picked up the new zoom lens last Sunday, and, of course, took it for a spin around my parent’s house. What do my parents have lusciously enveloping their house? Numerous gorgeous flowers & roses. Normally, people don’t take pictures of flowers with a zoom lens, but I wanted to break it in. I love the depth & clarity of the following photos:

I’m in Austin this weekend to celebrate Easter (Praise God for loving us so much!) with my family. Today, I took several depth emphasizing shots with ease while exclaiming, “I gotcha now, Sammy!” from across the yard inciting a joyous squeal from my subject.
