14/365 - Wisdom Teeth? No more! Hello, Ice Cream!

Teeth X-Ray

Today, all four of my 3rd molars a.k.a wisdom teeth were extracted (the teeth on the outskirts). The above photo is a nifty panoramic x-ray of my teeth taken Wednesday before today’s extraction. Cool, huh?!

Well, our appointment was at 11am with prep at 10:45am. They had me sign a waiver for the anesthetic (blah blah death blah blah); I took off of my jewelry, piercings, & gold money bling-bling chains; and I gargled some intense mouth wash for about 30 seconds. My mom, the gracious designated driver, and I sat around in the lobby watching dental propaganda until 11:40am when I was invited back for the party to begin. Woohoo!

On Wednesday when I came for my consultation, I expressed my ongoing food crush on fajitas & pretty much all Mexican food. One of the nurses jokingly thought I said that I would bring some fajitas for all of them when I come on Friday. As I was walking back to the operating room, they asked if I had brought the fajitas. Hahaha, to their disappointment, I had not. I sat in a comfy chair. As they laid me down & plopped in the IV, we continued chatting about tasty Mexican food & salsas. Dr. Kershman, my oral surgeon, walked in & asked me if I had any codes for him to get discounts on airfare tickets (I had mentioned that I worked at PROS on Wednesday). Nope! I guess they had already started the anesthetic in the IV, because the next thing I remember was waking up in another comfy chair down the hall with gauze in my mouth! Right on!!!

I wanted to say “Thank you & God bless” to all of them there, but couldn’t because my mouth was swollen & numb. Interestingly, I was able to find my numb bottom lip yesterday using my beard & goatee as a guide, hehehe!

Done! Wisdom teeth out. Ice cream. Pain pills in. Rest. Thanks 4 prayers

Cold pack on one side, Blue Bell vanilla bean ice cream, pain medication, change gauze, sleep, move cold pack to the other side, drink a cup of Lifeway’s strawberry Kefir, change gauze, sleep, drink some chicken broth, sip some ice cream, pain medication, change gauze, sleep, repeat…

Around 7pm needing some laughs from a comedy (good suggestion!), we started watching “50 First Dates.” Hilarious & touching romantic comedy. After some more ice cream, we watched a funny 1960s movie, “Glass Bottom Boat” with Doris Day. Comedy, romance, Russian spies, boats, cooking, gadgets, & even NASA!

Thank you everyone for your prayers, text messages, IMs, & Facebook comments. They brightened up my day! ^_^

Ice cream.
